WHAT THE JUDGES SAID: This entry stood out for the excellent continuity across all aspects of the packaging, both primary and secondary, and for the way the brand owner has wholeheartedly embraced the message it promotes.
The story this packaging tells is of local, grassroots innovation with a drive towards creativity and sustainability, of fun and innovation, thinking outside the box and exploring new ways of doing things. The ‘flat’ hip flask bottles give this brand its iconic look that is emphasised by the original artworks showcased across the range, while the heaviness of the bottle makes it a popular recycling candidate.
The shipper case design allows it to be re-assembled into a point-of-sale unit and table-talkers. Further, the brand owners have entered the circular economy with designer t-shirts and bags made from fabric that’s woven from recycled plastic bottles. Every aspect of the packaging works to enhance the product’s branding message and positioning.

WHAT THE JUDGES SAID:
These ultra-funky, limited-edition “flat” hip flask-shaped pet bottles are 100% recyclable, and, when discarded, their heavier weight makes them more desirable to “waste pickers”.
In addition, the changing labels provide an opportunity for local artists to showcase their talent.

WHAT THE JUDGES SAID: Demonstrates excellent work, creativity and inspiration in graphic arts. A South African bottled water company looking to embed its sustainable values into every step of its production process, decided to take their already sustainable labels a step further by turning them into wash-off labels. Thanks to the capabilities of our hp indigo digital presses, the partnership was a success, delivering recycled labels that left no residue on the bottles.

EXTRUPET CERTIFICATE OF COMMENDATION - 2023
Extrupet is one of the largest and most advanced recyclers of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottle materials on the African continent, specialising in reclaiming and converting waste PET bottles into various grades of PET flakes and chips. This is then converted into fibre, thermoforming, food-grade and strapping grade material to produce high quality and reliable end-products for use in packaging and other applications.

This certification serves to confirm that the design of the Yes! Definitely water bottle has met Extrupet recycling guidelines. The material types of the bottle are (PET), label (PP) and closure (HDPE). Extrupet would like to commend Yes! Definitely for going the extra mile in ensuring their water bottle referred to above are recycling friendly. A special mention for the decision to us the CleanFlake self-adhesive label, which has also been independently certified. It is this kind of proactiveness by Brand Owners that will ensure more PET bottles are recycled and truly circular.
